You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
Who sold the Africans to the Europeans?? OTHER FUCKING AFRICANS.
do you even know when dreads became popularized? Bob Marley. Because of some religious verses:
Leviticus 21:5
They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
Numbers 6:5
All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the Lord, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
Bible verses NOT WRITTEN BY ANY AFRICAN OR AFRICAN AMERICAN. they adopted the way of life and thinking of another culture.
But I’m committing cultural appropriation.
Right…
Makes sense.

I mean everything I’m about to say with the kindest heart because people who know me, on here and otherwise, know that I am not mean-spirited, but you are incorrect. Rastafarian culture is based on African ideology, not more or less Christianity because many Rastafari do not claim a denomination. But regardless of Rastafari, dreadlocks, proper dreadlocks - the kind meant for, preferably 4C hair, has its roots in ancient Africa. The same is true for box braids, Senegalese twists, and other hairstyles that are common among Africans, African Americans and others with 3C-4C hair textures.
I understand that you have good intentions behind what you’re trying to say and do, but from reading your posts on my dashboard, you’ve been very defensive. Granted, you were slightly attacked, but your reluctance to understand why it may be offensive to someone else is dissuading me from trying to help you understand. But, honestly, you don’t need and most likely don’t want my help, but as a POC, I felt it necessary to bring it to your attention because my dash has been full of commentary from other whites and non-black POC {re: comment about 98% of AAs making their hair white - which is so false but that’s something for another day}.
There is a difference between proper dreadlocks and matted hair. There is serious upkeep involved with dreadlocks and blacks and other non-black POC who have the texture for dreads understand the commitment behind them, including styling and other maintenance.
I do not know your race or ethnicity and will not assume because it’s not my place, but it just seemed fair to give my viewpoint since I am a person of color and could explain why it would be cultural appropriation. And I don’t have to go back to slavery to do so because that, in my opinion, is not relevant to the facts.
But something needed to be said because I, personally, don’t like seeing false information spread when it involves something that is very, very important to a large number of people.
I mean well.

I appreciate your input, honestly.
I understand the maintenance and up keep. I’m not going to just stop washing my hair.
Btw I believe people of color are very beautiful people.
But I dislike being held responsible for things in the past that I have no control of just because I’m labeled white, hence my defensiveness. (But you seem to understand that)
I believe everyone is equal. I try to treat people in my life with that ideology.
So explain to me:
How am I hurting a race by styling my hair certain way?
I’d never tell someone that they couldn’t do something just because they are certain color. Isn’t that being racist if I did?
So I am rasict if I say I can’t have dreads because its a “black” thing but I’m also committing cultural appropriation if I do because I think they are great and would like to celebrate the equal treatment of “black” culture by styling my hair that way?
It’s seriously a no win situation to me…but because I’m labeled “white” I have to tip toe around anything possibly remotely cultural as to not hurt anyone’s feelings ever because my “color” is an historic oppressor….when honestly I’d rather celebrate all cultures because everyone is awesome.
I mean this all in the nicest way possible.

It’s politically incorrect to say so many things these days, but people are giving you shit about dreads??? WTF. If people want to give a shit about things, go get involved in politics or something else. Geez.

Yeah those cups suck

So, my softcup sucks and my period got everywhere

Why do people use cups again? I know pads are a pain and tampons absorb too much blah blah blah…
I just assumed cups just hold it like a stopper until you take it out. So why are they popular?
What am I missing?

I thought I’d try them because my tampons are starting to like make me dry out there but these are a gross mess…I might try diva cup that has a stem instead of grabbing the rim

I use the moon cup (it was the least pricey) and after I figured out how to use it (1.5 days ) then it was AMAZING. No forgetting tampons, no need to have to hit the store if you are out.. no need to stock up pre-period and the best part!!?? I didn’t even cramp. First time in 15 ++ years.. (ie pre-period Colleen).

MY SISTER IN LAW DOESNT LIKE FORREST GUMP. I don’t think I can live here anymore.

I’m going to correct this sentance : My Sister in Law’s don’t like Forest Gump. I don’t think I can stay with either of them anymore.
